I know it's all in my head, but...

Suddenly, I'm worried about the Matt Leinart negotiations. People who may or may not know what they're talking about have started saying that it's going very badly at the moment. But the thing is, if he doesn't sign with Arizona this year, his value next year is likely to be lower than this year (which was lower than the previous year) combined with the fact that he'd have to wait another year for that payday.

It'll be interesting to see who blinks, but I sure would like my anxiety to just end.

The Arizona Cardinals have NO leverage in their negotiations with Matt Leinart! Kurt Warner is a liability at quarterback because he always gets injured. Matt Leinart's business team knows that Warner will get hurt so they have to ask for starting quarterback-type money! I wish Rod Graves and the Cardinals front office would wake up and realize that if they don't give Matt Leinart what he wants NOW, they will destroy the Cards' hope for a playoff season before they play their first game!

"NO" leverage might be a little extreme. It's in everyone's best interest to have him come in. If Leinart holds the line firmly and simply doesn't sign, he loses more money than he would by signing. And if the Cardinals just pay him whatever he's asking for, they could set a bad precedent for future signings.

As to the frailty of Warner, I disagree. Regardless of whether or not Leinart signs, I expect that Warner will take every snap this season.
